Allen Receives Honorary Degree from Cumberlands


Dr. Jim Taylor, President of University of the Cumberlands, presents Dr. C. Edmonds Allen with an Honorary Doctor of Administration degree.

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) honored Dr. C. Edmonds Allen with a Doctor of Administration degree during the 53rd annual Honors Day Ceremonies on Monday, April 23rd, in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Born in New York City, C. Edmonds Allen has made a name for himself as a professional of high ethical standards. Mr. Allen was graduated from Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts; received his B.A. at Washington & Lee University; and earned his J. D. from Washington & Lee University.

In his early years, Mr. Allen was occupied with corporate securities efforts for Simpson, Thacher & Bartlett; served as Associate General Counsel for leasing and industrial loans for General Electric Credit Corporation; Investment Banker-Creative Investment Department for Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Finner & Smith; and Director of the investment banking firm Gloucester International Limited.

Since 1982, Mr. Allen has served as President of Compass International Corporation, an investment banking firm involved in leverage buyouts and venture capital efforts with real estate interests and coal mining operations in Ohio and Kentucky.

In 2002 he became Managing Member of Park Avenue Realty Consultants which provides brokerage and real estate advisory services to European clients concerning acquisitions in New York and throughout Europe. Most recently, in 2005, he became President of Ganton Limited, a U. S. aerospace, defense, security, and technology company with worldwide interests, headquartered in New York City and with offices in New Delhi, Bucharest and Tel Aviv.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
