Dalton Hutton wins Cumberland Idol


Williamsburg, Ky. – The fifth and final season of Cumberland Idol came to a close on Wednesday, April 18th, in the Gatliff Chapel on University of the Cumberlands’ (UC) campus. With over 300,000 votes cast during this season, voters left Wesley Hale (Amelia, Oh.) as the second runner-up, Marissa Hendrix (London, Ky.) as the first runner-up, and Dalton Hutton (Mt. Vernon, Ky.) as the season 5 winner of Cumberland Idol.

The final three performers had the opportunity to sing two songs each on the Cumberland Idol stage. Performers chose songs by artists such as The Beatles, Kings of Leon, and Sara Bareilles.

There were guest performances by previous season winners including season four’s Zac Bell and season two’s Megan Sasko. Following the announcement of the winner, audience members were allowed to perform before the crowd as well with the third annual “Live Band Karaoke.”

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
