Celina Wynn and Sarah Lake Present Senior Art Exhibit at UC

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) Art Department hosted a reception for students Celina Wynn, Barbourville, Ky. and Sarah Lake, Verona, Ky. in the J.M. Boswell Art Gallery on Friday, April 20. Their artwork was on display in the Boswell Gallery during the preceding week.

Both of the pieces showcased a variety of mediums that included painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture.

Wynn’s most recent series, entitled Tamoxifen, was in honor of her grandmother who encountered breast cancer.

“I knew I wanted to honor my grandmother,” said Wynn. “And I did, but upon first look at the piece, you wouldn’t know it was about her.”

Upon graduation, Wynn hopes to find employment in a local school system.

Lake’s most recent series is entitled Kinesthetics and features three photographs matted together. The organic images resonate in many of Lake’s work.

Art is something that Lake has been involved in her entire life. “I simply couldn’t imagine life without art,” says Lake.

Upon graduation, Lake hopes to get into advertising or stay centered on art in some way.

Lake is the daughter of Terry and Kim Lake.

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
