Cumberland Idol hosts Judges Choice Night

Williamsburg, Ky. – Season 5 of the University of the Cumberlands (UC) hit singing competition, Cumberland Idol, continued with “Judges Choice Night” on Tuesday, March 27th. Over 300 students filled the seats in Gatliff Chapel to witness the popular campus event.

The season’s fourth week featured the top 8 performers singing songs by artists ranging from Adele to Tina Turner. The featured singers were Darcy Mascotti, Marissa Hedrick, Brandy Norman, Dalton Hutton, Shannon Whittenberg, Andrea Washam, Wesley Hale, and Bethany Sturdivant.

Last week’s “Royalty Night” brought in over 93,000 votes, even more than the previous weeks. At the end of the event the performers were brought back on stage to find out the results of the voting. The top two vote receivers were Shannon Whittenberg and Dalton Hutton.

The judges wished that they could have saved all three of the contestants in the bottom tier, but decided to use their only save for the season on contestant Marissa Hedrick.
