Registration Now Open for Mountain Outreach's Christmas Gift Day

Williamsburg, Ky. – University of the Cumberlands (UC) Mountain Outreach (MO) program will hold their annual Christmas Gift Day registration on November, 7th, 8th, and 10th. Parents wishing to register need to go to the MO warehouse in Emlyn on these dates between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m.

“This is another avenue where MO tries to help folks in the community,” explains MO Director Marc Hensley. “We want everyone to have a Merry Christmas; especially the children.”

To qualify for the program a parent must bring a valid ID, proof of income, original birth certificate for each child, and proof of custody if the child's last name is different from the parents. A child must be 14 or younger to qualify.

On December, 10th, parents will be able to pick up their Christmas gifts. Volunteers, students, and church groups come from all over to help participate in handing out the gifts. In addition to gifts, MO has also partnered with other organizations to provide adult and children’s bibles to every family participating. Children’s nativity books will also be distributed as well.

“This gives us the chance to reach out to children to put a smile on their face for Christmas morning,” says Marc. “Christmas is about the gift we received from God through Jesus Christ and these gifts are symbolic to his grace.”

The Christmas Gift Day program started in the early 80’s to provide much needed support to the local community. Every year since the program was introduced, thousands of gifts have been handed out to help make Christmas a joyous occasion for all children.
