Cumberlands Chartwells Sells 10,000th Pizza

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — On October, 20th, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Chartwells Dining Services sold the 10,000th Papa John’s Pizza of the fall semester. The Boswell Campus Center Grill, an on campus café for students, houses Chartwells Papa John’s Pizza.

“There was a lot of pressure built up waiting for the pizza to be sold and everyone was doing their best to sell pizzas,” stated Charlie Witt, supervisor of the Boswell Campus Center Grill Cybernet Cafe.

When Papa John’s brands were first introduced, University of the Cumberlands took a calculated risk that the program would be popular with students. UC wanted to bring a high quality brand to campus that students would not otherwise have access to in Williamsburg and wanted to offer something in addition to other menu options that would not get old. Kaitlyn Fothergill, student worker, said, “It was the most exciting event that has taken place in the grill!”

With 10,000 pizzas sold this year so far, and 40,000 pizzas sold since August, of last year; it’s evident that the brand is maintaining its popularity on campus. Steve Morris, Vice President of Business Services, adds, “Our Chartwells management really deserves the credit for how popular the pizza is. It’s their responsibility to ensure that both the food and the service meets Papa John’s high standards, and they do an excellent job of delivering that quality every day.”

Located in Williamsburg, Ky., University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
