Faculty, current MBA students, and alums gathered to listed to Curt Dondero speak at the Annual MBA Dinner held at Cumberland Inn in Williamsburg, Ky.

Williamsburg, Ky. – On Monday, September 19, 2011 the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Hutton School of Business (HSB) welcomed alum Mr. Cort Dondero, Director of Genor Industries, Inc, to the university campus.

Dondero attended UC in the fall of 1969 and spring of 1970. During his time at Cumberlands, he was a member of the golf team.

Students from the undergraduate business programs’ and the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program had the opportunity to hear Dondero speak on various subjects. During the day he gave a lecture presentation to about 75 of the UC business undergrads and finished the day off being the guest speaker for the Annual Semester MBA Dinner. At the MBA dinner he spoke on how to market your MBA degree with different subjects like interview tactics, appropriate dress, and resume techniques.

“The Hutton School of Business MBA program is designed to bridge the gap between academics and the practical realities of the business profession,” said MBA Director Dr. Vonda Moore. “In Cort Dondero's presentation to the MBA candidates and alumni, he discussed the importance of both academic preparation and understanding today's business environment.”

Dondero is the Chief Operating Officer at Panadero Aggregates, the holding company for Bluegrass Materials. Bluegrass Materials is an aggregates and concrete block producer, and owns and operates seven quarries and two block plants in the state of Kentucky. Dondero is also on the Board of Directors of the publicly traded, Gencor Industries, Inc., the leading manufacturer of asphalt plants, soil remediation plants, combustion systems and screening equipment for the road and highway construction industry.

Previously, Dondero was Vice President of Quality Assurance for Ryder Transportation Group. Due to his reputation of being able to reduce operating costs without displacing employees, several large corporations were interested in utilizing his business model. As a result, he founded the consulting firm, Dondero & Associates. The mission of Dondero & Associates was to assist organizations seeking to improve their long-term competitive position.

“We are so pleased to have had Cort Dondero visit campus to share his business expertise and professional experiences with our undergraduate and MBA students as well as our alumni,” exclaimed Dr. Moore. “It is these types of experiences that allow students in the MBA program to further expand their knowledge and understanding of business.”

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
