UC Student Presents Senior Recital

Williamsburg, Ky. – On October 1, 2011, senior Kara Watkins (Harlan, KY) presented her senior vocal recital at the Nell Moore Recital Hall located on the campus of University of the Cumberlands (UC).

The pieces ranged from a variety of musical theatre ensembles including "I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady, in which she had the starring role in fall of 2010 at UC, and "Think of Me" from The Phantom of the Opera to more traditional operatic pieces and spirituals. She also performed the duet "Angel of Music" from Phantom with UC music department alum Amanda Campbell.

For the last seven semesters Kara has been taking voice lessons from Professor Dr. David Etter, Vocal/Chorale. Watkins will graduate in December with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Applied Music.

"It has been a lot of hard work but I can't wait to sing it all for everyone,” exclaimed Kara. “I am getting to do what I love and am passionate about for all the people that I love, and that is very special to me."

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of student; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master's degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
