UC Faculty Member Vernon McGlone Earns Promotion and Tenure

Williamsburg, Ky – University of the Cumberlands (UC) professor Dr. Vernon McGlone has been promoted to professor of Business and has earned tenure as announced by Dr. Larry Cockrum, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at UC.

McGlone became a part of the UC faculty in 2000. He received a B.S. in Economics and Computer Science from Northern Kentucky University, as well as an M.B.A. in Managerial Accounting and a Ph.D. in Business Administration, both from the University of Kentucky. He has completed additional graduate study in Computer Information Systems at Eastern Kentucky University.

Dr. McGlone brings to the department a specialization in electronic commerce, systems analysis, microcomputer architecture, and quantitative decision models. He is a member of the Financial Executives Institute, the Academy of Business Disciplines, and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science.

Recently, he has lent his business and technological expertise to special projects for Frontier Vision Cable and the Berea Tourism Commission.

The requirements for promotion at UC include effective teaching, substantial professional growth and a required number of years of service, among other things. To be tenured, a professor must exhibit evidence of distinction, promise of continued growth and assurance that the faculty will be strengthened far into the future. Tenure is usually given after seven years of full time service at the university, and after having been promoted to Associate Professor.

Located in Williamsburg, KY, University of the Cumberlands is an institution of regional distinction, which currently offers four undergraduate degrees in more than 40 major fields of study; nine pre-professional programs; seven graduate degrees, including a doctorate and six master’s degrees; certifications in education; and online programs.
