Cumberlands PA Program to Hold Open House

Williamsburg, KY – University of the Cumberlands (UC) Physician’s Assistant (PA) program will hold an informational and open house event on Saturday, August 20, 2011. The event will be held in the Correll Science Building Auditorium from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. with scheduling for individual advising sessions in the afternoon on a first come, first serve basis. Welcome and introductions are slated to begin at 10 with an overview of the PA program to follow from Dr. Sonia Young.

Current UC PA students will also present during the informational session at 10:45 a.m. and Dr. Young will follow their presentation with the requirements and process necessary to apply to the UC PA program.

At noon, individual advising sessions will begin for those who registered for the meetings. In addition, at the same time, tours of the PA facility with current PA students will be started.

The Master of Physician Assistant Studies program at University of the Cumberlands is offered under a cohort system with course work to be completed over twenty-four months. Of the 101 credit hours in the program, sixty-one hours are earned through didactics coursework in a traditional classroom and laboratory setting. All didactics coursework takes place on the university campus in the Forcht Medical Wing of the Correll Science Complex. The remaining forty hours are earned during the second year in the program through eight supervised clinical rotations in the field.
