University of the Cumberlands Names First Speaker to Lecture Series

Roy Moore

Williamsburg, Ky. - Since First Corbin Financial Corporation owners Terry and Marion Forcht made a generous donation to University of the Cumberlands, the University has done more than to create a center reflecting the corporation’s name.

“We’ve instituted a lecture series which is to debut in March. We’re excited to present former Chief Justice Roy Moore as our first speaker,” said Dr. Jim Taylor, president of University of the Cumberlands.

Moore is the former Alabama Supreme Court Justice who was dismissed for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments Monument from the state’s Supreme Court. He will be the feature speaker of the “Moral Leadership” program at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 in the O. Wayne Rollins Center. Also during the program, area persons will be recognized as moral leaders.

Other scheduled events for the program include a Ten Commandments Monument Dedication at 4:30 p.m. at Cumberlands’ Smiddy Building, which is located at the Main Street entrance of campus in Williamsburg, and a musical performance by University students immediately precedes Moore’s presentation.

The First Corbin Financial Corporation Center for Excellence provides programs and activities to enhance the development of leadership, character and good citizenship. One component is Cumberlands’ Lecture Series.

For free tickets to the “Moral Leadership” program, call University of the Cumberlands’ ticket line at (606) 539-4432. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.
