Library Tutorials: Using UC Cat
Once you have opened a catalog record, you should see one of two options, a record like the one pictured below, or one for an e-book (which will be shown on the next page).
When it comes to locating a physical item in the collection, there are three primary areas of the record to look at: location, call number and status.
The location tells you which part of the collection your item is in. Some of the options are the Main Collection, Appalachian Collection, the Children's Collection and Reference.
The call number tells you where within a collection you will find your item.
Status will let you know about the availability of your item. It could be available, checked out, on reserve or missing. If it is checked out, it will show the due date.
