Installing and Configuring Windows XP Dial-up Networking

This section gives detailed instructions for the configuration of modem connections.

1. Click Start button
2. Click on My Computer from the Start Menu.
3. Click on My Network Places.
4. Click on View Network Connections.
5. Click on Create a New Connection.
6. Welcome to New Connection Wizard window will appear,
7. Click Next.
8. Choose the second option, (Connect to the network at my workplace).
9. Click the Next button.
10. Choose the first option, (Dial-up Connection).
11. Click Next.
12. Enter in the connection name in the text box, type: cumber.
13. Click Next.
14. Enter in the phone number to dial, ( off-campus) type: 5390077
15. Click Next.
16. Check the checkbox for “Add a shortcut to this connection on my desktop”.
17. Click Finish.
18. Double Click on cumber.
19. Double Click on Properties.
20. Click on Networking Tab.
21. Double Click on Internet TCP/IP
22. Choose option Use the following DNS Server addresses.
23. Enter 192.168.0.100
24. Click OK
25. Click OK
