Position  Social Services Assistant
Requirements  
Responsibilities  Serves as a primary assistant to a Dormitory Manager. Provides on-site supervision of students to ensure a safe, healthy atmosphere. Assists in record keeping as needed. Schedules, coordinates, and supervises work details, recreational and other group activities including making reservations, acquiring transportation, and other related arrangements and providing information concerning these activities. Gives practical advice and counsel to students in order to assist in developing work skills. Provides input in the planning of dormitory activities of students. Maintains order and discipline among student, both of assisted group and other groups, observing and recording social behavior patterns to aid in counseling and or placement of students. Documents both positive and negative behavior traits. Provides leadership and direction to students in performing daily housekeeping duties, work details, physical training, recreation, hygiene, etc. Conducts various dorm meetings during absence of the supervisor to disseminate information to students, and provide guidance in such areas as group living problems. Facilities student group counseling sessions. Meets individually with students to discuss day-to-day problems encountered in residential living. Gives practical advice and counsel to students and proposes solutions to routine problems without imposing personal values. Assigns individual duties by establishing student work rosters on a rotating basis and ensuring that students adhere to assigned tasks. Is required to operate government vehicles including sedans, light pick-ups, 12-16 passenger vans, and 20 to 40 passenger buses. This may include buses with airbrakes. This position is required to work swing shift and night shift when determined by the needs of the Center.
