Position  Vocationial Rehabilitation Specialist
Requirements  Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation, rehabilitation teaching or therapy, guidance and/or counseling, psychology, sociology, orientation and mobility, social work, special education, education with emphasis in vocational counseling or a related field
Responsibilities  As a novice counselor, provides basic vocational rehabilitation caseload duties such as collection of information and making recommendations for determining eligibility, plan development and implementation. Works directly with consumers to conduct initial interviews and vocational needs assessment. Counsels consumers to identify limitations and abilities. Provide case management to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. With guidance, develops Individual Employment Plans with consumers including appropriate rehabilitation services and planned employment outcomes. Under supervision, secure and evaluate medical, psychological, psychiatric, vocational and other information to determine eligibility. Provide job placement assistance relative to consumers interests and abilities, including resume' development, employer contacts, application processing and arranging interviews. Authorized expenditures of OVR funds with branch manager or mentor approval. Develop and maintain referral resources by interacting with other agencies, medical facilities, physicians, school systems, etc.
