Dr. Steven Sudduth
Associate Professor and Director of Bands
Dr. Steven Sudduth joined the University of the Cumberlands' faculty in 2008. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance. He was granted the Master of Music degree in performance and composition at Western Michigan University, and he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from the University of North Carolina/Greensboro.
Dr. Sudduth is the Director of Bands for UC and is also the low brass specialist. He is responsible for the coordination of all marching band, symphonic winds, university band and jazz band activities including half-time shows at all UC home football games, exhibition performances at selected high school venues, basketball pep performances, and concerts for all bands under his direction.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Sudduth is the conductor for the Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Ensemble and a member of the London Jazz Orchestra. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Phi Beta Mu and the International Trombone Association. He frequently adjudicates for marching band, concert band, and solo and ensemble festivals throughout the US.
Currently, Dr. Sudduth serves as the Assessment Manager for the District 10 Kentucky Music Education Association.
