Dr. Melissa Gibson
Adjunct Professor of Piano
Dr. Melissa Gibson joined the University of the Cumberlands’ Music Department faculty in 2013 as Adjunct Professor of Piano. Dr. Gibson completed the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Eastern Kentucky University. She earned the Master of Arts in Education degree from Union College and the Doctorate in Education degree from the University of Kentucky.
Dr. Gibson has taught in the public school system for over 20 years. Prior to her arrival at UC, her teaching experience has also included positions in the undergraduate classroom setting at Dakota Wesleyan University and Lindsey Wilson College.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Gibson is the author of several publications, and she is an active presenter at various conferences and training summits throughout the US. Currently, Dr. Gibson serves as accompanist for the UC Cumberland Singers ensemble. She is the pianist for Main Street Baptist Church in Williamsburg, and she is the proprietor of the DrJo Studio, in which she teaches both group and private piano lessons.
