Dr. Carl Lewis
Dr. Carl Lewis obtained his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from NC Wesleyan College, masters degree in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University and PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Criminal Justice from North Central University. His specific research interests involve police high speed pursuits, the management of liability, criminal justice administration, and the development of critical thinking skills.
From 1989 to 2006, Dr. Lewis served as a police officer in Eastern North Carolina. As a result of this service Dr. Lewis was responsible for the identification and subsequent capture of a prolific identify theft suspect. At the time of his capture this suspect had 19 different identities with valid photo identification (drivers licenses) and social security cards (total determined amount of thefts attributed to this individual $ 500,000.00). During this period he received several departmental commendations to include the highest award (the City Manager’s Service Award) that can be earned by an officer in the city that he worked for.
During his free time Dr. Lewis enjoys surfing (in the ocean), kayaking, and training for triathlons.
