Mr. David Threlkeld
Associate Professor of Music

D. Threlkeld

Mr. Threlkeld is the director of the UC Jazz Ensemble and is also the woodwind specialist at UC. He teaches private lessons for all of the woodwind instruments and coaches various woodwind chamber ensembles.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Threlkeld remains active as a performer in various genres including classical, jazz, blues and pop music. He is a founding member of the band Jobe from Knoxville, Tennessee and has performed as a guest soloist on both clarinet and saxophone with various ensembles throughout the region. He has also appeared with such notable artists as Lou Rawls, Shirley Jones, The Temptations and the Four Tops.

Mr. Threlkeld is the coordinator for the University of the Cumberlands High School Jazz Clinic and frequently acts as an adjudicator for marching band, concert band, and solos and ensemble festivals throughout Kentucky.

Mr. Threlkeld earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Morehead State University, and a Master of Music in performance from Northwestern University. He has since pursued additional study at the University of Tennessee and Tulane University.
