Theta Alpha Kappa
Alpha Beta Zeta, the University of the Cumberlands chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa, was established in 1993. This national honor society for religion promotes the exchange of learning and thought among scholars and encourages excellence in research, teaching, and publication in the field of religion. Each year, Alpha Beta Zeta sponsors events open to the entire university community. Currently, Dr. Bob Dunston, Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department, serves as national treasurer of Theta Alpha Kappa.
Eta Beta Rho
Eta Beta Rho is a national Hebrew honor society dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements in the study of Hebrew language and literature, to stimulating study and research in the field of Hebrew, and to promoting an understanding and appreciation of the culture of Israel. Our Samech chapter was formed in the spring of 1995 as the fifteenth chapter in the nation. Requirements for membership are the completion of three semesters at Cumberland, the completion of at least twelve hours of Hebrew coursework with a 3.0 grade point average, and a standing within the top 35% of the class in general scholarship.
