Ms. Kimberly Hamby Townsend

Kimberly Hamby Townsend, CPA, is a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of
the University of the Cumberlands. Undoubtedly, the leadership skills
she acquired while serving as president of the UC chapter of Phi Beta
Lambda (business fraternity) and Secretary of our chapter of Sigma
Beta Delta (business honor society) have served her well in building
her career as a CPA. While a student at UC Kim was involved with
other organizations across campus, including the Student Government
Association and the Sports Information Department. Since graduating,
Kim has not only passed the CPA exam, she has earned the MBA degree
from Tennessee Technological University.
In a recent conversation with Kim she said, “My degree from the
University of the Cumberlands has allowed me to have a great job that
I truly enjoy each and every day. With the guidance and encouragement
of the Hutton School of Business faculty and staff, I felt prepared to
enter the workforce straight out of college and have success in my
chosen career.
“My four years at Cumberland were very memorable and enjoyable. The
class sizes really helped me get ahead in my education, something I
believe is difficult to find at a larger university. The knowledge
and experience I gained as an accounting student at Cumberland enabled
me to sit and pass the CPA exam my first year out of college, leading
to advancement with the firm by which I am employed. I am extremely
grateful to all of the professors at the University of the
Cumberlands.”
